This Lil' Birdie Painted Today

This Lil' Birdie had the day off of work!  And instead of cleaning up her nest, she decorated her nest.  And loved it!!

I have a confession:  I love anything painted this color --

It's called Halcyon Green from Sherwin Williams.  Someday when I get around to finding the pictures, I'll show you how I took an old hand-me-down dresser and turned it into a beautiful statement piece in my living for the tv to adorn.

For now, all you need to know is that I love this color.  Since I rent an apartment and can't paint (sad sad times), I have started using this color as a little accent everywhere around my house.  I have lots and lots of neutral furniture (think browns and khakis) so this little pop of blue is a perfect complement!

Yesterday, I posted a picture of my puppy.  Behind her are the curtains in my living room.  Surprisingly, I bought them 3 years before I ever decided to paint the dresser and found Halcyon Green.  But they are the exact same color, and that damask at the bottom?  It's velvet.

So why am I going on and on about this silly paint color?  Because I got to paint something today, and I think it turned out super super cute!

I've had two of these basic boring brownish cherry frames sitting around the house for way too long now, and an empty wall in the bedroom, so I figured it was time to do something about both problems.  So I decided to paint them.  Halcyon Green.

For the record, I don't use the Sherwin Williams paint.  I use Behr Paint + Primer and it is AMAZING!  I painted an entire dresser + lots of other things and I'm still only halfway through a QUART!!
After the first coat of paint!  Just so you know, this paint photographs a LOT lighter than it is in person.

After the second coat of paint.
I'm not a huge fan of anything that's too perfect, so I took some fine grit sand paper to the frames...

Much better!  I love that it looks like it's old and not from Hobby Lobby anymore!

Finished projects are only complete when it includes a picture of me and my boo!  :)

And that's how this lil' birdie spent her day -- painting her favorite color and framing pictures.  It was a very good day!

Oooh, Dream Weaver...

I am, without a doubt, the girliest girl I know.  I love all things pink, fru-fru, and French.  I could shop my way through a trust fund in roughly 3 days, and I can't resist anything with ruffles.

With this in mind, I would like to show you my dream closet...

I'm not even kidding when I say this, I would give up my entire closet worth of pretty clothes for these 13 blouses (obviously I'd have to keep my pants, skirts, etc. right??).  I have had this image saved on my computer for months, and I re-visit it every time I find myself wearing and buying too much black.  Granted, this isn't exactly a practical closet, but I don't really even care.

This simple little picture inspired a wardrobe-wide make-over this past weekend.  Sunday was spent reorganizing my entire closet.  I'm pretty picky about how my clothes are arranged.  If I'm going to actually take the time to hang any clothes (which is rare), then they're going to be neatly organized by ROY G. BIV colors and then by hue light to dark and then by sleeve length sleeveless to longsleeves.

No, I promise I'm not ocd.  I just like things done my way.

But for the first time since the 8th grade, I have reorganized my closet.  Now, there is a whole section devoted to "ruffle-y romantic feminine" and the only category that stayed from the former organization is "Black".
Now, my feminine section is even smaller than the section in this picture, but it's a start.  My new mantra when I shop is "would this fit in my dream closet?"  If I say no, I have to think of at least 3 other things I already own that I would wear it with or I won't buy it.  We'll see how long this lasts... Don't hold me to my word...

Well, Hello There!

Hello, there!

It seems I'm never at a loss for words any other time than the first blog post.

So here's a picture of puppy looking particularly cute --

I promise it'll be better than this from now out!  Just had to get that first awkward post out of the way!!

P.s. I am totally going to sign my name like this in real life for ever and ever until I get sick of it. Amen.
