This Lil' Birdie Loves Kitchens

My favorite room in a house?  The kitchen.  After 6 years of living in rental/apartment kitchens, I am so ready for a house and a kitchen with an island!

I already know exactly what I want.  I was a little Goldilocks for a while flip flopping between designs but just in the past few weeks/months have I finally settled on a design.

You see, this is just not enough...

And while it is pretty, this is just too much for me...

But this?  This one is just right...

Yes, Miss Emily, I am obsessed with your kitchen and would buy your house just to have it.  No, seriously.  It's perfect.  I hope you don't mind that I stole every. single. image you posted for inspiration!

Now to save enough money to actually get a house and make this dream kitchen happen...

This Lil' Birdie Wishes She Wore Week 1

I'm sure y'all have figured out by now that I'm absolutely horrible at taking pictures to link up with The Pleated Poppy for What I Wore Wednesdays.

So I decided to change things up a little bit.

This Lil' Birdie will now feature What I Wish I Wore Weekends (because I never know if I'll get to blog on a specific day)!  This pretty much means I'll pull pictures of outfits I love or I wish I could own...  Pretty much anything other than what I actually wear!

Let's get started today!

Emerson Made Khaki Trench, $228
I love everything about this outfit.  It looks so amazingly comfortable but still chic.  I want to wear this the next time I travel somewhere.  Or just wear the outfit and pretend like I'm traveling somewhere!  P.s. The striped shirt is on my list of "needs" or "birthday ideas"!

Michael Kors Pocketed Shirtdress, $995
Okay, I'll NEVER be able to afford this dress, but I love the casual comfy laid-back vibe.  I would wear this about every day this summer.  Love it!

Michael Kors Fall 2010 Ad Campaign
It probably doesn't hurt that I own this purse (yay, Christmas present!), but I absolutely love this outfit.  The fur, the cowl neck, everything about it.  Love it all!

So that's Week 1 of What I Wish I Wore.  Feel free to link up if you're as bad at What I Really Wore as I am!

This Lil' Birdie's Favorite Things Part 2

Apologies for the one post last week.  Planning on making up for it this week with a few recipes and crafty tutorials!

For now though, I thought I'd share another one of my favorite things!

Have any of you ever checked out the Audrey Hepburn Complex Tumblr blog?

I am officially obsessed.  Most of my favorite pictures in my "inspiration" file are from this lil' blog...See...

Gorgeous!  Makes me miss my long hair and makes me want to wear all ruffles everyday!

Oh, hello, lovelies.   Wouldn't you like to come live in my closet?

Stunning...

Really, if you haven't already, you must click on over to see the Audrey Hepburn Complex tumblr.  You'll definitely find it eclectic and inspirational and simply lovely...

This Lil' Birdie is COLD

So in case you didn't know before now, I live in west-central Alabama.  Right across the river from this...
(Picture from Here)
Yep, that's Bryant-Denny Stadium on the University of Alabama's campus.  And we're known for a couple of things around here.  One of them being football.  Another is our "mild climate". (There's lots more... I'll give you a "tour" someday...)

Well, this week started off COLD!  It "snowed" last night (for like .2 seconds) and then spit frozen rain all over our pretty city.  Which means I woke up to this...

I took this picture after my car had been running for 10 or more minutes and I had scraped all of the ice off the windows.  I scraped over an inch of ice off my car and have the battle wounds on my hands to prove it was solid ice (thanks, Dad, for the ice scraper from '93!).  And let me tell you, it's cold in Alabama when the ice on the hood of the car doesn't melt even once the engine is warm.

Me personally, I LOVE winter weather just because I love my winter clothes.  But "winter" around here normally means highs in the 50s, not the 30s.  Every once in a while we'll get a really cold cold front, but for the most part, winter just means fun clothes.  This winter has made me realize why people up north move to Florida.

And for those of you who actually do live in areas of the country that get snow and freezing rain on a normal basis, my heart goes out to you.  Until summer.  Then you need to feel sorry for me and my 100+degree days!

Keep warm, friends, it's cold outside!  I'm going to buy an electric blanket.... or 6!!

Oh, and p..s ROLL DUCKS ROLL!

This Lil' Birdie's Favorite Things Part 1

I'm an extremely opinionated person {if you hadn't figured that out by now}.  So I've decided to share some of my favorite things with you!

Let's start with Red Ticking Stripes...

Available on Etsy.com
Oh, why must you be so adorable?!

Available on Etsy.com

J'adore!

Available on Etsy.com

Burlap AND a red ticking stripe?! Be still my heart!!!

My next project is going to have to have some sort of red ticking stripe in it... I just can't resist anymore!

P.s. Can you tell that I'm a*little* obsessed with Etsy as well? 'Cause I am...

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! Yes, I may be a day or two (or three) later than most, but I figure January 3rd rounds back to January 1st, right?

I decided to share my "resolutions" with you this year because I am all for some accountability and by putting them here, This Lil Birdie will have to actually hold myself to doing then right. So here goes...

1. Blog 2 or more times per week.
This is a win for both of us! I get to share my silly lil' thoughts and you'll get fun tutorials, recipes, and pictures! Aren't you excited?!?! {you should be}

2. Exercise.
Generalize much? Well, I'll get more specific. My goal is to move for more than 30 minutes more than 3 times a week. Move. Walk. Run. P90x. Whatever. Just move.

3. Budget & save.
I'm pretty much a shop-a-holic that likes expensive things. This is not very good for my credit cards or my bank account.  So after a year and a half of big girl bills, I've finally made a budget and my resolution is to stick to it and SAVE!  Good luck to me but it's probably going to mean more did-it-myself tutorials for you!

So that's that. My 2011 game plan. Hold me accountable & I'll be sure to reward you with fun posts at least 2 times a week :)

Happy 2011 everyone!! What are your goals for this year? Do you set goals you know you can reach or do you set unattainable goals?
