This Lil' Birdie is Obsessed: Gold Ceilings

No, really.  Gold ceilings.

See?

{source}
I cannot get over how amazing this looks!  It adds such amazing flair to this room.

And this!  Ooh ooh ooh!  The cabinets are fantabulous!  If I thought I could talk FH into painting our cabinets, this would be on the list of possible colors.  All that natural light....I'm in love.

Now, FH isn't crazy about the idea of painting a ceiling gold, but I think it would look absolutely amazing in our guest bedroom/ someday nursery upstairs with creamy walls, dark furniture, and linen accents.  And so begins the process of convincing him that I am, of course, right.

This Lil' Birdie is Obsessed: Bayou Salvage

Christmas is just around the corner, but I just now am starting on my Christmas shopping list.  I can't help procrastinating; I simply cannot stop thinking about linen dresses for spring wedding showers!

Like these beauties all from Etsy!

Can you tell that I am loving absolutely everything from Bayou Salvage's Etsy shop?  I think I might need to re-make my Christmas list because I don't know how much longer I can live without her lovely linen everything!  Take a look yourself and just see if you don't fall in love with something!

P.s. Bayou Salvage has no idea who I am; I just truly love her items and will be purchasing soon :)

This Lil' Birdie Loves: Big Sunglasses

Yes, yes, it's been a while.  Yadda yadda.  All that.

But there's a lot going on and we'll get to that sooner or later.

For now, let's talk about my obsession with big sunglasses.

{source}
I think this is the epitome of classic fashion.  If Jackie O wore a paper bag, I would probably still love it. But to me, the sunglasses just make this whole thing fabulous.

It is extremely possible to go too big (and I think Hollywood proved that point for all of us a few years back), but a classic big round sunglasses in black or tortoise shell, and you really just can't go wrong.

Which is why my next purchase will be these

I will be sure to post my Jackie-inspired look as soon as (1) these come in and (2) I find the charger for my camera.

This Lil' Birdie Is Obsessed: Milk Glass

Set of Milk Glass Vases from Etsy.com
Is this not a lovely little collection of milk glass vases?

I truly love milk glass.  Last summer I visited the {tiny} town of Vernon, Alabama, to help my boyfriend's parents pack up his childhood home for a move to the big {little{ city of Tuscaloosa.  Vernon is a virtual treasure trove for small town junkies like me.  They have a cute little downtown and everyone knows everything about everyone.  But my favorite part of this small town?

The Falkner Antique Mall.  My boyfriend's great-grandfather started a mercantile store in this building.  It was the heart of the city.  They sold everything from candy to farming equipment and was even the first funeral home for Vernon!  You can read the story at the Antique Mall's website.  But really you absolutely must go by if you're ever in rural west Alabama.

Miss April and I took a break from packing for a visit to the Antique Mall, and now I have the itch to go back.  They have a plethora of true antiques and just good ol' junk to choose from!  Of couse, I found some things I just couldn't live without...

...A shabby chic window pane with peeling paint the exact same color as my Halcyon Green accents.  It hangs over my hall bench (seen in the Christmas post)

...A vintage map of Canada (all in French, no less).  I painted and distress the frame.  This is in the dining room.

...A sweet little black set of shelves for my storage-less bathroom.  Great for towels and the odd basket full of hair appliances...

But two of my favorite finds were... milk glass!

This vase is much bigger than the standard milk glass bud vase.  P.s. those pictures in the background?  My dad's parents -- my Grandmother and Granddaddy.

And this sweet little trinket box at one time had some pretty gold accents, but that has long since worn off.  It was a perfect addition to my bedside table menagerie...

Is your nightstand "user-friendly" or pretty?  Mine's a combination of both.  The trinket boxes hold jewelry and the odd bobby pin that finds its way into the bed, and the drawers underneath hold everything else!

I'm thinking another trip to the Falkner Antique Mall will be in the works soon.  Next time I'll be sure to take pictures before I get my lovelies home!

This Lil' Birdie is Obsessed: Phone Cases

So... I have a confession... I am absolutely obsessed with new phone cases.

I started with this one...

Speck Case for iPhone4 (Darkest Tartan Plaid)
Then Apple gave us all free phone cases so I got this one...

Apple iPhone4 Bumper in Pink
And then I decided I needed another one because this one didn't "protect" enough (aka: I'm extremely clumsy and dropped my phone a LOT!) so I got this one...

Speck iPhone4 CandyShell in Black
But these are all so boring...and... well, functional.  I wanted something more fun.

So I set out to find a phone cover that was pretty :)

At first I thought I liked this one...
DSStylesTiki Turquoise iPhone4 Case

But then I thought I'd get sick of the color (even though it really is pretty).

So then I fell in love with this one...
DsStyles Abstract Series Pink iPhone4 Case
And while I still love this lovely albeit garrishly loud phone case, this one stole my heart (along with my wallet)...
Barcelona Tech Candy iPhone 4 Case
Wait... wait... it gets better...

Yep, it comes with TWO inner cases and the cute little outer case...

I LOVE !!   Get one for yourself :)

P.s. Tech Candy has no idea who I am apart from sending me my order; I'm not endorsing anything :)
